Online Abstract submission for UGI 2020 is now open

Information for authors

The call for Abstracts for UGI 2020 is now open and will close on Monday 1st June 2020

General information

Submitted abstracts will be assessed and allocated on the basis of the scores to Plenary, Short Papers (oral), or Poster sessions.

UGI 2020 would like to encourage abstract submissions from Trainee surgeons and also Allied Health Professionals, Dietitians and CNS’.

Abstracts should not have been presented elsewhere at the time of submission. Please note that all accepted abstracts, whether for oral presentation or poster presentation, will be published in the UGI 2020 Programme and on the British Journal of Surgery website (citable).

Oral Presentations

All presentations throughout the meeting will be delivered using PowerPoint format and authors will be sent detailed guidelines prior to the conference.

Poster Presentations

Posters will be displayed for the duration of the meeting. Poster presenters will be sent detailed guidance notes on the poster rounds and adjudication in advance of the Scientific Meeting.

Presentation Categories

Authors can submit abstracts for the following categories:

  • OG Cancer
  • OG Benign
  • Pancreatic
  • Liver
  • Emergency Surgery
  • Bariatrics
  • EUS

Authors can also indicate their profession:

  • Surgical Trainee
  • Consultant Surgeon
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Nutritionist/Dietician
  • Non-UK Healthcare Professional

Notification

All abstracts chosen for presentation will be contacted directly with further details.

Abstracts chosen for presentation at UGI 2020 will be notified by 13th July 2020.

Successful authors will be required to register for the meeting. Please go the registration page for more details.

We recommend you apply for study leave well before this date to ensure that you are able to present your work at the meeting.

 

How to submit your abstract

Abstract submission will be an online process and further details will follow shortly. 

Please note that you must:

  • Complete your abstract using the online submission system only
  • Please use Arial Font (please do not complete in Upper Caps only) and keep within the word count as per the submission page and boxes.
  • There must be only one presenting author per submission.
  • The title and content of your submission must be anonymised and not mention any units/trusts on any other identifiable details. Any identifiable content will result in the abstract being rejected.
  • Remember that any changes to your abstract can only be done before the submission closing date, so please ensure that you have checked all spelling, grammar, author details and affiliation details, as this cannot be changed once the deadline date has closed.
